The demand is enormous. Just three months after the maiden voyage of the Hamburg-Bodensee Sprinter, Gebrüder Weiss is increasing the frequency of direct traffic between Wolfurt and Germany’s sea ports. Daily departures and an added destination now means three times the capacity for GW customers.
”Our customers took to the Hamburg-Bodensee Sprinter to such a degree that expanding the existing traffic actually became a matter of great urgency,” notes a pleased Harald Kostial, Seafreight Product Manager at Gebrüder Weiss, on the frenzy surrounding the debut of the container train. In early September, the first block train loaded with 60 seafreight containers departed the Wolfurt terminal for Hamburg. As 2007 gets underway, Gebrüder Weiss will be addressing the distinctly escalating shipping needs. Teaming up with the Intercontainer Austria (ICA) container operator, GW will be running daily connections between the Lake Constance area and the German sea ports. This will mean providing close to three times the capacity for goods.New: Bremerhaven-Bodensee Sprinter
”With this step, we’re cementing our leading market position for seafreight in the Bodensee area,” affirms Harald Kostial. The future will see three departures a week for the Hamburg port. New to the schedule is the Bremerhaven-Bodensee Sprinter. This block train will depart twice weekly starting on 04 January 2007. The direct block trains will save time for the region’s importers and exporters as well as offer a clear service-plus in that Gebrüder Weiss not only provides trains with fixed goods capacities, but that the Air & Sea specialist in fact co-ordinates the entire transport process.
