New freight forwarding agents

GW expands network in Northern Europe

As of 1 September, four new co-operation partners will be ensuring continuous, systematised transport connections between the Scandinavian and Baltic states and 14 GW branches in Central and Eastern Europe. Previously only six Austrian locations enjoyed system connections with these countries.

The shipments for Gebrüder Weiss customers in Sweden will be processed by Road Link, those in Norway by Universal and shipments in Finland by the Finnish Post. Combifragt EHJ is the new agent in Denmark, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. All these companies are owned by Finland Post Logistics. This area of the Finnish Post has been growing rapidly. 1,350 employees have handled 700,000 shipments, generating revenues of 510 million Euro.

Oskar Woisetschläger, the GW System Manager in charge, is looking forward to the new agent structuring. ”One agent per country, all concentrated under one roof. This type of constellation allows uniform standards and quality specifications to be easily defined, quickly realised and properly controlled.”

The Gebrüder Weiss organisation
Gebrüder Weiss, headquartered in Lauterach (Vorarlberg, Austria), employs a total of approximately 3,900 people at 134 locations worldwide. In Central and Eastern Europe, GW has subsidiaries in Austria, Switzerland, Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Romania and the Ukraine. The logistics company generated sales of 789 million Euro in financial year 2005.
