Secure transport: successful launch of new service!

Gebrüder Weiss launches round-the-clock monitoring of sensitive goods two weeks ago

The 50 year-old Cognac, the ultra-modern digital camera, the top-quality cosmetic product – in addition to special handling during transport, these goods also need special attention. And now it’s here: The new ”Secure” service from Gebrüder Weiss offers Austrian customers seamless monitoring of valuable and sensitive goods.

”Up until now, GW was all about comprehensive bulk distribution with services such as Weiss24. Four years ago, we created the first express service for forwarded goods in the form of Orange on Time. Now, as innovators, we’ve done it again – our ”Secure” service offers the solution for the ”secure transport of sensitive goods,” explains product manager-in-charge, Walter Konzett, about his team’s latest development. ”We sent over 300 consignments via this service in the first two weeks alone, and everything functioned smoothly!”

Eva Svobodova, PhD, Forwarder Account Manager at Hewlett Packard, also seems happy with the new Gebrüder Weiss service: ”Hewlett Packard benefits significantly from Secure, thanks to fully transparent processes and total monitoring of deliveries to the end-customer.”

Secured processes guarantee that the goods arrive undamaged and safely at their destination. All stages of the transport are monitored throughout by scanning the barcodes on the individual items and can be traced at any time. From loading at the customer, via transhipment in specially secured zones in the GW terminal, to unloading. Intermediate storage of items also takes place in lockable, highly secure areas. All areas are monitored by cameras, and the Secure transports are managed exclusively by authorised, specially trained employees.

However, as things can sometimes go adrift in spite of the very best employees and seamless monitoring, GW has developed a control system that immediately reports any deviations from the norm. This allows the employee responsible for the client to take immediate corrective action. Over 600 GW employees at GW in Austria were trained for the new service allowing Secure to offer seamless quality!
